About WineHive: The Team Behind the Modular Honeycomb Wine Rack

WineHive makes modular honeycomb wine racks: aluminum cells that each hold one bottle and lock together in any shape, from a 5-bottle kit to a full wine wall. Industrial designer John Paulick invented and patented the system, and today WineHive is part of the Wine Cellar HQ family, led by founder Randy Green and a team that has specialized in wine storage since 2016.

The Designer

Designed by John Paulick, inspired by the honeybee

John Paulick is an industrial designer trained in biomimicry who kept coming back to one question: why do honeybees build in hexagons? The answer is efficiency. A hexagon shares every wall with its neighbor, so a honeycomb stores the most with the least material, and grows in any direction.

After a long period of design and testing, John engineered that geometry into WineHive's interlocking aluminum cell: one bottle per cell, connecting to every other. He patented the system worldwide, and WineHive went on to appear in Forbes, on HGTV and in Uncrate. Today John brings his product design, structural testing and patent expertise to every new WineHive shape before it reaches the Hive Builder.

The Beekeeper

Now part of the Wine Cellar HQ family

The beekeeper keeps the colony healthy and growing, and that is Randy's job every day. Today WineHive is part of Wine Cellar HQ, the wine storage company Randy founded. He started out as a partner in a general contracting business and has focused on wine storage since 2016, designing cellars and cooling systems for residential and commercial clients. He holds the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines.

Randy leads WineHive's manufacturing, partnerships, paid advertising and larger projects, and personally consults on custom walls and climate-controlled cabinets. Behind him is the Wine Cellar HQ team, including cooling-system sizing specialists and licensed HVAC technicians, so the people who build, ship and support every WineHive know wine storage inside out.

The Scout

Leading the hive's digital growth

Scouts fly ahead, find what the hive needs next and lead the way home. María does that every day for WineHive: she leads e-commerce strategy, marketing, search and AI visibility, Shopify development, brand and content, and analytics, turning what she learns about our customers into a better store and a clearer story.

As Director of Digital Innovation & AI Growth at Wine Cellar HQ, she also builds the AI tools and automations that help our small team work like a much bigger one. If WineHive shows up where you search, scroll or ask, that's her work.

The Forager

Keeping every order on course

Foragers make sure everything the hive needs arrives home safely, and so does Sarah. She runs WineHive's day-to-day operations: customer care, our third-party logistics (3PL) relationship, stock and inventory, and every order from checkout to your door, including returns and replacements.

She also coordinates special requests and runs our email marketing, so news from the hive reaches you first. Her operational know-how keeps everything running so smoothly it looks like magic. If you've written to WineHive, you've already met her.

How we work together: John designs the cell, Randy leads the colony and its biggest builds, María brings new collectors to the hive and keeps it growing online, and Sarah makes sure every box arrives safely at your door. Four bees, one hive.

  • Patented Worldwide patents on the interlocking cell

What that means for you

Designed to last. Backed by wine storage pros.

  • A design that holds up

Anodized aircraft-grade aluminum cells that share their walls, so the whole hive is stronger than any single cell.

  • Real people who know wine storage

Questions about mounting, weight or cooling go to a team that designs wine storage for a living.

  • A rack that grows with you

Start with five cells. Every kit you add later locks into the ones you have, so nothing becomes obsolete.
